Why Manchin Won't Be Going to Scotland with Biden

It is a truth universally acknowledged that West Virginia senator Joe Manchin is the most powerful Member of Congress.

He’s a nominal Democrat from a big big coal state and he talks too much, as in when reporters from all over the world follow him whenever he steps out of his office.

Manchin simply refuses to get with the program, which is why we here at AP announced on March 6 that he’s formed his own political party: https://www.apocryphalpress.com/2021/03/06/manchin-supposedly-only-not-really-a-democrat-will-soon-announce-the-formation-of-his-manchinisto-party/.

He’s doing his utmost to thwart President Biden’s domestic agenda, and he’s delighted that the President will in a matter of hours be going to Europe and to Glasgow to meet with other world leaders to say that they’re serious about climate change (only not much good is realistically expected from that meeting, which excludes Greta Thunberg).

So we sent our DC-based associate solitary reporter, Keith Coleman, to track down Manchin and tell him what he should be doing.

Trump-style, Manchin shoved Coleman out of the way and kept on talking to CNN’s Manu Raju.
