It is a truth universally acknowledged that the Republicans will stop short of nothing to win.
For example, Donald Trump’s National Security Advisor, Robert O’Brien, has been campaigning nonstop, even though the position of National Security Advisor is supposed to be above the political fray.
And Department of Homeland Security personnel have been campaigning in all-important Pennsylvania, highlighting routine immigration arrests, and they paid for ominous-looking billfoards in the Keystone State, depicting wanted immigrants charged with violent crimes (https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/02/us/politics/trump-reelection-government-power.html?referringSource=articleShare).
The gawps (GOPs) are led by a man who lashes out at losers, who never admits responsibility for all the many bad things he's done to our exceptional nation.
Ask Dr. Mary Trump, a clinical psychologist, who concisely describes her uncle’s multiple pathologies in Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man (2020).
Some astute political observers, including our Texas-based associate solitary reporter, Pamela Malinowski, tell us that even the Lone Star State might turn blue; and that in an ideal world, its senior senator, John Cornyn, who has been distancing himself from Donald Trump recently, might lose his seat in Mitch McConnell’s Senate.
Maybe.
When it comes to Texas, a Red State if there ever was one, Malinowski was the first to let us know that U S District Judge Andrew Hanen, appointed by Texas’ very own Bush Two, said, not so fast when Republicans filed suit alleging that Harris County (Houston) Clerk Chris Hollins, 34, an African American lawyer, had no authority to arrange for drive-through voting in the nation’s fourth largest city. Texas Republicans wanted Hollins to invalidate no fewer than 127,000 ballots (https://www.nytimes.com/live/2020/11/02/us/trump-vs-biden?referringSource=articleShare).
Our Racist-in-Chief and his Chief Lackey, former Indiana conservative radio talk show host Mike Pence, love not wearing masks, and today Trump let it be known that in the unlikely event he gets to keep his job, he’ll fire the nation’s top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci. Recent polls clearly show that Americans trust Dr. Fauci, not Trump, to deal effectively with The Virus that Trump blames on China.
Actually, our DC-based associate solitary reporter, Keith Coleman, was talking this evening with associate solitary reporter Johanna Jones, who’s with Trump 24/7, and Jones told him that if he keeps his job, Trump will call China’s President for Life, Xi Jinping, and demand that he personally pay for everything Covid that’s happened here.
But Jones, Coleman, Malinowski, and the entire staff here at AP know full well that Joe Biden will become our 46th President (https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/02/us/politics/trump-covid.html?referringSource=articleShare).
We here at AP also know that come January, Moscow Mitch (assuming he defeats war hero Amy McGrath) will be Senate Minority Leader, because Democrats are gonna flip the Senate, with John Hickenlooper (Colorado); Arizona’s Mark Kelly; North Carolina’s Cal Cunningham; South Carolina’s Jaime Harrison, an African American; Steve Bullock in Montana; and maybe even Alabama’s Doug Jones can keep his seat in his contest against a Trump-endorsed football coach.
