One of the favorite t-shirts we here at AP see is one that says Left Coast on it.
Not West Coast, but Left Coast, implying that most everybody in California, Oregon, and Washington — states consumed by deadly forest fires — is a Leftie.
Which may have something to do with the fact that it took Donald Trump some three weeks even to mention that there were fires there (https://www.politico.com/states/california/story/2020/09/11/the-west-is-on-fire-it-took-trump-3-weeks-to-mention-it-1316566).
So we sent our top California-based associate solitary reporter, Susanna Sherman, to ask her Governor, Democrat Gavin Newsom, what’s going on.
“That’s easy, Susanna. Trump knows he’ll lose all three West Coast states, so he was free to golf, hold a rally in Louisiana, and do whatever he wanted. As far as he’s concerned, the West Coast can keep doing what it’s doing: it’s burning up."
