The Blue Wave washed over Colorado on Tuesday.
It’s all because of Donald Trump — a man who never held elective office until January 20, 2017, having never been previously elected to any public office, and he never served in our military.
Trump became a billionaire through his Trump Organization, which is privately held, and he refuses to release his tax returns (though in January, the Dems in the U.S. House of Representatives will have the subpoena power).
Because of his very bad behavior as a youth, his father, shady Queens real estate mogul Fred Trump, sent him to New York Military Academy, which went into bankruptcy in September 2015. It is now owned by a group of Chinese investors led by billionaire Vincent Tianquan Mo, of Fang Holdings and SouFun Holdings, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
Geroge Washington was a general and he was anointed as our first president. In the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan, there is a painting of the apotheosis of Washington.
Tennessean rabble-rouser Andrew Jackson, our seventh president, gave us the infamous Trail of Tears. "Old Hickory" was a general.
Zachary Taylor, our twelth president, was also a general. He was born in Virginia on a plantation, and he was raised near what is now Louisville in Mitch McConnell’s Kentucky. General Taylor was elected president because of his military victories as a general in the Mexican-American War during the time of Manifest Destiny; but he never really wanted to be president. Taylor, at least, had leadership experience as a general before assuming office.
The Party of the People took all five statewide races in Colorado on Tuesday (Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, State Treasurer, and Regent of the University of Colorado, elected statewide).
Secretary of State-elect Jena Griswold, 34, defeated GOP Secretary of State Wayne Williams on Election Day. Griswold is very smart, is an election law attorney, is extremely good on her feet, and was Washington liaison for Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper (a business-oriented Democrat who sorta wants to be president but really really should run in 2020 against Colorado’s junior senator, Republican Cory Gardner, a chipmunk disguised as a politician, who was very inappropriately endorsed by the failing Denver Post in 2014).
Longtime Congressman Mike Coffman (TP-Colorado) was finally defeated on November 6 by newcomer and rising Dem star Jason Crow, a mere puppy at 39 and a combat veteran who was recruited to run against Coffman by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, in Colorado's 6th Congressional District — first time ever that a Dem has taken that seat.
Crow will very capably represent Aurora, the site of the Aurora Movie Theatre Massacre.
In 2022, Coffman, a loyal Republican who once (May 2012) told his constitutents that Barack Obama was not born in the United States, will challenge Colorado Governor-elect Jared Polis, a multi-millionaire and one of the wealthiest Members of Congress, who emerged from a very crowded Democratic field on June 26 — besting a better-qualified Democratic candidate, former State Treasurer Cary Kennedy; former State Senator Mike Johnston, and Lt. Gov. Donna Lynne — the current Lieutenant Governor of the Centennial State. Lynne came in fourth, Kennedy second. When appointed to her position by Governor “Hick,” Lynne said she would not run for governor — only she did. Every vote for Donna Lynne was a vote against Cary Kennedy. Kennedy would have been Colorado’s first woman governor, as Polis easily defeated Bush Family Member Walker Stapleton, Colorado’s two-term State Treasurer. Stapleton ran a clueless campaign and lost to Polis bigtime. Stapleton defeated Kennedy when she ran for re-election as State Treasurer in 2010.
Congressman Polis will be succeeded by even younger rising Dem star Joe Neguse, 35, an Eritrean-American who has a truly sparkling personality. Nobody who has ever met Joe Neguse dislikes him. Neguse was elected on November 6 to represent Boulder and other parts of Colorado. He was a Regent of the University of Colorado. He ran for Secretary of State in 2014, losing to Williams; he is a member of a prominent Denver law firm, Holland and Hart; Crow is a partner there, as well.
Associate solitary reporter Melissa Smith, who covers Congress for us, spoke with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi only five minutes ago.
Nancy D’Alesandro Pelosi is 78. She is the daughter of Maryland Congressman and Baltimore Mayor Thomas Ludwig D’Alesandro (1903-1987). Pelosi has represented San Francisco in Congress since 1987. Her Congressional District is one of the safest Democratic seats in all of the 435-member House of Representatives.
The 78-year old Pelosi has a net worth of $26.4 million smackeroolas, and she donates heavily to Democratic Congressional candidates or potential Congressional candidates.
Ever since becoming Speaker of the House in 2007, Pelosi has been the target of every Republican political candidate, alll the way down to County coroner, for being too liberal.
It’s time for a much younger Democratic base.
ASR Smith wasted no time asking Pelosi whether she intends to be elected Speaker after the Blue Wave caused Trump to lose any chance of not being impeached.
(Enter Joe Neguse, who, as we said, is only 35.)
Pelosi snapped, “Why not? I refuse to give up this very powerful position! I appoint committee chairs. I’m third in line for the presidency, and Trump’s gonna have a stroke or a heart attack any minute
now — especially since he’s in Paris where he insulted Francois Macron.”
“And whenever that happens," Pelosi continued, "former Indiana conservative talk show host Mike Pence will take over, announcing his theocratic agenda, but then — who knows when he’ll be taken up in the Rapture?" (Pence, an evangelical Christian, is solely responsible for Trump’s unconscionable alliance with evangelical voters, whose primary desire is to help Trump flip the Supreme Court to all GOP so SCOTUS can overrule Roe v. Wade).
But ASR Smith knows better. She predicts, and she has so informed us, that Congressional Democrats, later this month, will tap the dynamic Neguse to lead them in the House.
Interviewed by your solitary reporter only one hour ago, Neguse said that as Speaker of the House, he will persuade all Colorado voters to repeal TABOR (the Taxpayers Bill of Rights) which, since 1992, has strangled Colorado government.
“I’ll also see to it," Neguse said, "that Coloradans will amend their unecessarily lengthy Constitution to bring back representative government to our great State.”
Neguse was referring to the November 6, 2018 ballot, which, for Denver residents, contained over twenty proposed constitutional amendments, propositions, and Denver ballot issues.
“I know that Coloradans — Democrats and Unaffiliateds — are among the smartest in the nation, but how they managed to get through that three-page ballot is way beyond me."
