SOUTH CAROLINA GOV LOWERS CONFEDERATE FLAG

COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA — South Carolina’s governor, Nikki Haley, did the unexpected early this morning.

After 21-year-old Dylann Roof killed nine African American worshipers at historic Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston on Wednesday, African American pastors, and many others, demanded that the legislature of the first State to secede from the Union remove permanently that conspicuous symbol of hatred, the Confederate Flag, from the grounds of the State Capitol. And Nikki did just that.

Governor Haley, who surely harbors presidential aspirations, and who is a Sikh and a Methodist, acceded to a plea from a solitary reporter. To do so, she defied the legislature, http://www.denverpost.com/news/national/ci_28349823/why-south-carolinas-confederate-flag-isnt-at-halfstaff-after-church-shooting.

The governor told the solitary reporter that she would eagerly welcome the NRA’s Wayne LaPierre to the Capitol to advocate for the Second Amendment, after President Obama pointed out that in the land of the free and the home of the brave, it is too easy to acquire guns. But the governor stipulated that LaPierre would first have to wrap himself in the Confederate Flag. “Wayne and I could snuggle together inside the flag,” she said. “I am very comfortable under its fabric."

From Spokane, Rachel Dolezal tweeted that she will go to tea with Nikki Haley once she figures out what her racial affiliation is. “Maybe I am a Latina,” Dolezal said, “but first I would have to ask my parents about that."
