POPE FRANCIS WILL NOT BE VISITING OKLAHOMA NEXT WEEK, OR, MORE LIKELY, EVER

TULSA — After reading all 184 pages of Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato si’ ("Praise Be To You"), Oklahoma’s senior senator, Jim Inhofe, told a solitary reporter earlier today that Pope Francis is the AntiChrist.

Yesterday, the Pope released Laudato si’, which calls for "swift and unified global action" to combat environmental degradation and climate change.

Inhofe is the author of The Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future (2012). The good senator, a Presbyterian, is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.

Inhofe told the solitary reporter that he will meet Francis at the diocesan office of Bishop Edward James Slattery here in Tulsa, there to explain to the Pope that God, not Francis, is in control.

Federico Lombardi, SJ, the Director of the Holy See Press Office, said that Francis has no plans to visit Oklahoma anytime soon.

Inhofe promptly introduced legislation to defund the United States Geological Survey, which cooperated recently with the University of Colorado in research which found that fast pumping of oil and gas industry waste fluids deep underground — at rates exceeding 300,000  barrels a month — is linked to the national surge in earthquakes.
